Hall of Fame catcher and original Florida Marlins television analyst Gary Carter died on Thursday at the age of 57.

Carter was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor last May.

An 11-time All-Star with the Montreal Expos, New York Mets, San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers, Carter was also the Marlins color commentator from the team's inaugural season in 1993 through 1996.

Carter's bottom-of-the-10th single in Game 6 of the 1986 World Series helped the Mets mount a charge against the Boston Red Sox and eventually beat them.
